Teaching and learning are connected processes that help students gain knowledge, skills, and understanding for personal and academic growth.

Assessment Policy

Students are expected to develop their skills over the year according to their abilities. The success criteria of different subjects are calculated depending on the skills that are assessed and the time frame over which they are assessed.

Language Policy

Phoenix Private School recognises that language is central to teaching, learning, communication, identity, and inclusion.

Homework Policy

Parents are encouraged to help guide children with their homework should they need it and give further explanation. It is important that the child completes the homework themselves and should be encouraged to work independently to complete the tasks set. 

Read Write Policy

It is a fun, engaging, fast paced programme that teaches young students to read and write using their phonetic knowledge of sounds. The core purpose is to teach every child to read and to
keep them reading.

Marking and Feedback Policy

The aim of this policy is to ensure clear understanding of the procedure of effective marking and feedback to pupils regarding their work in order to maximise progress and support pupils in becoming efficient learners.

Physical Education Policy

The purpose of the PPS Physical Education Program is to provide all students with a British Curriculum Standards based program that exposes students to a variety sports and activities, and provides a positive, and safe learning environment so students can leave PPS with an enjoyment of physical activity that they can take with them through life.

Swimming Policy

The aim of the policy is to clarify matters in relation to the teaching of the curriculum content in the aquatics strand of the school’s Physical Education Programme.

Gifted & Talented Policy

Phoenix Private School is committed to identifying, supporting, and celebrating learners who demonstrate exceptional academic ability or outstanding talent in specific fields. This policy outlines the criteria, identification process, and support systems for Gifted and Talented learners.

Star of the Term Policy

The PPS Star of the Term Awards celebrate and recognise students who demonstrate excellence in academic achievement, personal development, character and contribution to the school community. The awards aim to promote high expectations, encourage positive behaviours and celebrate the achievements of all students.
